Who in our team actually marks their man though? Its been a problem for many a season with different personnel.

Thought Can was alright today. Good header, defender decently.

Changes nothing he's still off, no way he would have been happy playing CB he's done a job for the team.
I'd keep him as a good squad filler but I suspect he just wants to play week in week out in his favourite position, whatever that is.

Unlike letting Lucas go in the summer and bringing in neither a centre half or defensive mid.
Ideally we should keep Can and get a centre back or two in. Keita is a major upgrade on the midfield but Can would still be useful to have. Pretty sure he is off though.

Hope we could find some way to keep him here, and find ONE position for him and keep him there (or on the bench).
Gets shuffled around way too much which imo hinders his development.

Useful player that actually gives a crap when on the pitch and can handle when games get physical. Doesn't make sense for me to let players like that go.

If he wants to do that it will be at a smaller club than Liverpool.

Klopp will not want to lose him on a free and he will get that clause put into his new deal.

    I feel.

Can you imagine if we'd lost Coutinho in the summer for £80m but it's alright because Emre's tied down for 4 years

I can see him going City and replacing Fernandinho as their #6 tbh.

Worked with Pep before, knows the league etc.

Would be a blow to strengthen one of our rivals; especially with no recompense.

City could sign loads better than Can.

People said the same about Sterling and Stones. Pep is a coach, he’ll work to knock those edges off and Can will have a more defined role there.

And on a free, with the PL experience Can has?

correct. the question that should be asked is that after almost a year why is a release clause so important to him if he really is happy here and wants to play for the club.

Yes weíve got an abundance of quality midfield players so why be fussed if one of the best we have leaves for free. We can easily replace him and still be behind the likes of City and Chelsea.

Is Fernandinho off somewhere because he is far better than Can. One of the best in the league in his role considering he is always on his own. Obviously getting on bit now but still top draw.

If he had defensive awareness he'd be some CB. Has everything else. Good in the air, strong, comfortable on the ball.

Players want to have the ability to decide on their future, if it was up to them everyone of them would have clause that could be workable. There is nothing strange in that but I doubt thatís the only problem here hence he hasnít signed.

Can wants to play all the time though, he doesn't bench Fernandinho next season I wouldn't think.

I just think this Juventus talk has been going on for that long its probably a done deal
