He played well enough in yesterday's game to deserve a start. Wijnaldum has been inconsistent this season though he usually turns up for the big home games. Grujic would definitely get sent off in a game like this. I'd love him to play more because he's clearly talented but he is such as rash tackler.

My thinking is we might need a bit of grit in a Derby and Grujic could be the one to give it, but you're right, he could be a walking red card.

    Start Robertson at LB.

Henderson will be back in, not sure which of Can / Wijnaldum he'll replace as you can make arguments for/against both. Can is another who could easily be a "walking red card" in the sort of match we expect but his overall performance has been better than Wijnaldum this season. Wouldn't be shocked to see AOC for Salah.

A bitter mate of mine is dreading Sunday. He even said he would take a 1-0 defeat right now to avoid a humiliation.

Chances are Robertson will start due to Moreno being doubtful.

I'd put Milner there for this game. He was terrific on Wednesday. Prefer to have the experience TBH.

    What? Why?

Hopefully he just plays the strongest team possible. Rest some against West Brom if needs be.

The only thing in the back of my mind, however brilliantly we've just done, is that I seem to remember the team thumping Maribor 7-0, then full of inflated belief, losing the next game.

Admittedly, the team has certainly improved since then, and we're getting a lot of consistency.

I just think the midfielders need to remember to continue winning the ball and feeding the front three (four?).

The key to our form, for me, is how well the midfield has performed. They've won the ball and turned defence into attack and very sharpishly.

They've shielded the back four (three) too.

The midfield is key. Win the ball, shield the defence and get it up to the front guys as quick as we have been doing v. Everton, and then we will win.

We just need to continue our form. We know the score.

Get it up to our attackers and let them do their stuff (again).

Everton's points tally was the lowest by an English club in a Europa League group stage (four points) beating the previous worst set by Wigan Athletic in 2013-14 (five points)!!....Impressive!

We've dominated oppositions' midfields, not just numerically, but also in intensity and a willingness to win the ball in those areas.

Our attackers (the Fab Four or whatever you want to call them) have contributed a lot to that too, turning defence into attack.

It's a no-brainer really, but the longer we have the ball in spaces Everton don't want it to be (i.e. their end) then of course with our firepower, we're going to create chances to score.

Maybe, it's slightly under-appreciated, but the midfield is key to that.

As a side issue, some people have said Henderson is a bottle-neck (I guess in reference to his backwards and sideways passing). Is that fair?

We certainly flowed against Spartak, and our illustrious captain was not on the pitch. Is that coincidental?

To be fair they’re form of 3 wins in the last 3....9 goals scored 0 conceded is probably a better gauge coming into the fixture.

    Our form is more impressive.

I’m expecting a win tho as long as we turn up. We turn up and play as we can....we win.

With Fat Sack in charge, I would expect a meat and two veg type of approach.

Everton will be away from home, so I would anticipate a certain amount of parked bus.

Allardyce's team have focused on the physical, so I would expect a midfield battle.

They're never going to out-football us, so the auspices would suggest a counter-attacking approach.

Their best (slim) chance of a victory will come from sticking a couple of tall gorillas in the box and them heading in after being marked by one of the most vertically challenged in our team.

I think he’ll bypass the midfield altogether

They haven't got any pace in their side so I can't see how they'd counter attack us.
Allardyce will park the bus, frustrate us and be physical, then rely on set pieces. The only way I can see them scoring is either direct from a Sigurdsson free kick or from a corner.
It wont be as easy a game as some people think. I'm just gutted they didnt keep Unsworth for a bit longer - we'd have annihilated them with him in charge.

According to Charlie Nicholas , Evertons only hope of getting a draw is to deploy 'Mourinho tactics".

big sam has said as much in his prematch presser... their whoile focus will be shut down space for our forwards to work in and hope to sneak a goal...

lookman is a danger on the counter with his pace....
