Suarez was by far the better player but I think the Firmino, Mane and Salah trio has more balanced and flexibility.

Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling of 13/14 were unplayable.

Suarez, Sturridge, and Sterling over Firmino, Salah, and Mane. Suarez was the best forward I've seen and Sturridge at his best was superior as a goal scorer to Firmino. Salah has blinding pace and gets in great positions, but still misses more chances than Suarez and Sturridge at their best. Sterling has since improved, although Mane to me is a more clever player.

Hmm I'm not so sure about that, I actually think I remember Suarez in 13/14 had a terrible chance to goal ratio, I remember the pundits at the time saying that's because he creates so many chances. I think the same is true of Salah.

The SSS was really just The S. Suarez, with the other 2 hanging off his coattails.

Harsh on Sturridge. His record for the first 18 months at the club was exceptional.

Suarez was just on a different level.

    haha

No chance. Sturridge scored 35 goals in his first 50 odd games. He was a phenomenal player in his own right.

Doesnt matter. that front 3 in 13/14 plus the others scored 100 goals. This front 3 or 4 will score a similar total. Its what we concede that matters. will it be 50 again? Or 45+ or 40+. Any of those and we aint finishing 1st or 2nd.

We conceded that amount the last time we scored over 100 goals.

If we're scoring 100 plus goals in the league, we can get away with conceding 45-50.

Nonsense, Sturridge was incredible, what we see now is a pale imitation

He bagged goals, combined brilliantly, we always looked so much better when he played

Worth mentioning with SASAS, we never scored 7 in a game...

So, simple question really. The best attack...

    Coutinho - Sterling - Sturridge - Suarez

    OR

    Coutinho - Mane - Salah - Firmino

I said the other day the Suarez one because he was so exceptional

But it genuinely looks like all 4 of our current players will hit 20+ if they stay fit, so I'd have to say this one.

Back then, Suarez was the best forward in the world so I would say the top one.

If we're judging it on now I'd probably go for the second.

    The current attack..

Every one of them is world class. Every one of them a threat.

The Suarez side had Sterling who at the time was a young player with potential who regularly did little or nothing, ran the ball into touch and got left out or played out of position.
It wasn’t really a 4, it was Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho.

Sterling (at that time) wasn’t on the same planet as the other 6 lads in that group

Not consistently through the season though. The current 4 smash it every game.

Sterling played 39 games and scored 11 goals in the tittle challenging season, all from one of three forward positions. At no time did he play out of position. Unless you mean playing left wing or attacking midfield was out of position. In which case, 6 of his goals came from these positions. The rest coming from the right.

    Not true.

Sterling played wing back quite a few times when here and certainly played there during that season.

Anyway, the point was that Sterling was a young player learning his trade, the current 4 are all (arguably) world class and therefore are a better 4 than the 2013/14 group for me.

    In the title challenging season?

    Transfermarkt says youre wrong.

And no, the point you made was that he was often played out of position, left out of the side, ran the ball out of play and did little or nothing. That demonstrably isn't true.

That front 3 came 3 games close to breaking a 28 year old drought, what have the current 4 done besides Coutinho?

If it was Suarez and me and my 5 year old lad I would still say him. He was simply the best player the premier league has seen that season. The current forward line are better if you compare player by player but Suarez was exceptional. Ferguson even made up stories to get him banned.

I don't know why people are bothered arguing. Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge were absolutely incredible. 65 goals or so between them during that title challenge. Coutinho scored 8 on top of that.

Our current front three, excluding Coutinho, are about half way there to matching that.
