We need to become a force again and add some proper leadership to the team.

Someone that command respect throughout Europe and make players want to come to our team.

We had that with Gerrard but it's never going to happen with Hendo.

Would you look to promote, buy, or keep what we have for our Captain?

It should be one of Lallana, Coutinho or Firmino for me.

Coutinho was offered it. He has shown great loyalty and leadership. He is my number one pick.

Considering our manger has already been on record saying he goes with the longest serving player, this is a bit irrelevant.

He also acknowledged in a recent press conference that he knows about perceptions in England, but he doesn't care that much.

    get lost will you

speak about the club needing a leader but you'll give it to a guy who's faked injuries and refused to play for us?

    idiot

if there's one guy in our squad who deserves the captaincy less than coutinho I cant name him

just goes to show how clueless Liverpool fanbase has gone

someone willing to give a spoilt brat who faked injuries the club captaincy

did we ever really deserve shanks as manager with clowns like this as fans - he'd be walking Coutinho out the city centre right now with a rocket up his arse to never come back

Hendo may be rubbish and not a good captain, but he has never faked an injury or walked out of the club on strike

I think we should give someone else the captaincy, but no players are coming here currently?

See how VVD is this season, if all is well, make him club captain for next season.

van Dijk is the obvious choice if he performs well for the next 6 months.

Why does he pick Milner captain over Lovren, Mignolet and Coutinho then?

Yes, because it's who the Captain is that makes players want to join a club

Just last summer Alvaro Morata was quoted as saying that having Gary Cahill lead him was a dream come true. And Paul Pogba had pictures of Rooney and Carrick on his bedroom wall

I think you might be the idiot here.

Because if I was Coutinho I would be doing my best to get out of the club with Henderson at the helm.

You are too blind to see it.

Coutinho has never walked out of the club on strike.

And we don't know he faked an injury. Benefit of the doubt and all that.

The captain debate really has no legs as long as Hendo is here, he represents the club and itís values perfectly and also Klopp, who is at the helm not Henderson, has said heís the natural captain for the club.

Coutinho wants to leave to fulfill his dream of playing for Barca no more no less

If you asked me who I think should be captain I would say VVD

He inherited those and has kept them as they are.

    Valid question but premature.

I think this debate should wait until summer and see who we have on board at that stage, their status, form, and level of commitment.

In any case its not going to change between now and end of season.

It does because we can't be taken seriously with Henderson as our lead or else it will affect our players.

Gerrard was influential in bringing the likes of Torres, Masch, Suarez and other players here.

Or else we are going to lose people and I fear for us if Saleh goes next year.

We have to keep this team together.

Do you think? I mean we took it off Sami once upon a time, surely there should be no issue with him accepting a better player/option as captain? Especially if he is as much of a team player as people suggest.

He won't even be a starter next season when Keita is here, so I very much doubt that

Proper baffling. Let's make Luis Suarez captain.

Maybe we need a new captain, but we don't have anyone capable of taking the armband off Henderson yet

I think Hendo is the perfect captain. The time he dedicates to the club and his off the field effort are unrivalled. I think he does more off the pitch than any who came before him. Just because the tv cameras don't show Jordan as being as involved in giving direction to his team mates as Stevie did it doesn't mean he isn't doing it. Next time you are at a game just take 5 minutes to watch Jordan, he is constantly talking and explaining what he wants people to do..... you don't always have to shout to get the job done.
