Keita is a good shout, Fernandinho is underrated though I’d have him for now.

Based on this season, Firmino ahead of Aguero and Robertson ahead of Mendy.

    Overall though:

    Ederson
    Walker Van Dijk Matip/Lovren Mendy
    Fernandinho
    Silva De Bruyne
    Salah Aguero Mane

Fernandinho is a MUCH better defensive midfielder.

A reverse of the away game would be great.

Firmino vs Aguero is pretty even to leaning Firmino's way; Aguero is a better pure scorer, Firmino is better at literally everything else
Salah > whoever they put on the right
    Robertson > Delph
    VvD >>>>>> Stones
Lovren/Matip both better than Otamendi, Kompany is better for the 10 minutes before he gets crocked

Silva and whichever deep MF they play are not really better than whoever we put there

Their only clear advantage (but it's a pretty big one) is De Bruyne >>> Lalanna/Milner/Ox, Walker going forward is better than Gomez but Gomez defends better

Ederson maybe takes the GK slot but it's not like he's shown anything special, just hasn't really been pressured.

There's a reason their record against us, especially at home, is nothing to crow about...

This is going too far, no one in our midfield challenges theirs. The GK's cannot be compared.

    Better form, definitely.

That said Mane hasn't exactly been in the starting XI every game, scored in each of the 3 league games before his red card, played in only ONE of the next six, and in the last 12 league games has only scored twice granted, but been an unused sub three times, a sub once and started eight and if he starts today that will be the first time he's started three consecutive league games since the first three of the season before his red card...........

Sterling has scored 14 goals in 20 league games, amazingly SEVEN of said 14 goals have come in the 80th minute or later. He was sent off in his first start of the league campaign, and has been far more of a regular starter since then with maybe only 2-3 subs appearances since (in the league)

Even on comparable starts, team mates etc Mane would have struggled to keep pace with Sterling on the scoring front.

A convincing win is surely a must to show our credentials for next season...? Might be a bit much to expect to level it on aggregate, but a win and a comfortable come handsome one may show us as contenders as the nearest rival.

A win by 4 goals would put us 2nd, any kind of win would put us 3rd. Who would have thought that after 8 games when, as I recall, there were comparisons being made with Rodders and all sorts, and we were 8th with 13 points and behind Bumley ffs with the mancs SEVEN points clear of us and a whopping EIGHTEEN GD better off...!??!? That GD differential being just four is amazing, that we're playing well enough that we could jump ahead of them on GD albeit with a possible big win where we'd have to be beating an unbeaten team and stick quite a few goals past them

I agree with that. And for those who still feel Mingers makes them feel more comfortable in goal than any other, with a run in the side it should unite opinion one way or the other.

Somehow I'm doubting it will happen though, the selection of Karius ongoing not the uniting bit although that's not a given either, because Klopp doesn't seem the manager who will backtrack that often if at all on decisions so we may be stuck with a decision/policy made at the start of the season with the occasional league game with Karius in goal.

Also not convinced he'll do it for a game against the best come most in form team in the league, they could score a few as they're more than capable and destroy any confidence. Then again he may feel from Mingers' last less than convincing performance that Karius may be better suited, plus Karius may be seen as better suited to the threats that citeh will pose. Of course last time we played them, and Mingers conceded five goals, we didn't have VVD in defence nor were we in a long unbeaten run, nor at home so there are plenty of variables

And that's the thing, isn't it. We're quite capable of giving any side a battering. And we're quite capable of only doing it for the first 45, and then we lose the plot in the second half. We're not safe even when we're 3-0…

Fingers crossed that we get momentum early, and keep the screw turning until the end!

sterling is far more important to a better team than mane is to us, based upon this season

sterling is the prime reason they have won so many games with goals past the 80th minute
