Not a replacement for Coutinho, no.

But his stats in the prem is 7 goals, 7 assists. He can create and can take defenders with him.

His best position is out wide and dribbling into the area. He is like Salah in that respect and is a Salah like for like not Coutinho like for like. Such a suggestion is ludicrous.

You need more then just passing deep to play that position.
if it was that easy, we could use van dijk there

Well he has the attributes to play in a cm role, provided he has someone holding with him. His passing is better than Salahs imo.

I have seen Mahrez play live in the King Power Stadium four times in my whole life and each time I have been nothing short but impressed with him.

He would elevate his goals and assist figures at Anfield playing with our better crop of players. Top notch quality.

I would pay no more than 40 million for him though.

It is no coincidence that Roma tried to sign him as Mo Salah's replacement but we know the Italians are tight and don't usually stump up the cash.

True he doesn't press like a maniac like the rest of our players and defend from the front, but he has a sublime "Danny Sturridge" like left foot and he more than makes up for it over the course of a match with his quality plays in the final third.

We'd be mad not to be in the mix for a player of his calibre!

Some people just don't want to see Coutinho go, neither do I, but he IS going, so we need to find a replacement and imho Mahrez would be a good replacement, Lemar is not all that great, Goreztka is better but it does not look like we will get him. I would be happy with Mahrez.

Marches would have to change the way he plays to suit our style of play, I can't see klopp signing him.

Mahrez would be a good option but not really like for like for phil. But then there arent many players like phil, even our supposed top target Lemar isnt that similar. Mahrez would be a good signing for the squad anyway but we would still need Lemar or another playmaker. I would be happy enough selling coutinho and bringing in mahrez now and then lemar now or summer depending on monaco.

Lallana could do the job for the rest of the season if he goes this month.

in terms of threading passes yes, BUT we will miss two very key aspects of Phil's game if we used Lallana there - Long range shooting and set pieces, just the fact Phil is so good a long range shots make the opposition team panic, and Lallana's long range shooting is not that great it is a huge loss.

I'd rather just use Lallana(provided he stays fit) and save the money for a proper Coutinho replacement in the summer.

I don't think we should be looking for a 'similar player' to Coutinho now.

There isn't one for a start but I'd rather see us look to replace him with a better player/players than we've already got to play in the midfield three and look to maintain, and add to the front three with players more akin to Salah and Mane, i.e pace and directness, rather than Coutinho. That's why players like Lemar, Goretzka etc would be the ideal for me.

We need a goal threat from midfield man badly, without that threat from Phil there is a big gaping hole in that midfield.

Yeah i kind of agree. We will struggle to find another player like Coutinho. I think the front 3 of salah mane and firmino is talented enough, its that midfield behind that really needs upgrading. Keita is very good and could turn into a superstar but we will struggle if we still playing hendo and wijnadlum alongside. Goretzka is would be fantastic especially being out of contract but i think he will end up at bayern.

Keita Lemar and a tougher midfielder alongside them would be ideal. Keeping it on thread mahrez would be great option for depth or even if we wanted to play him as CAM or try shifting firmino deeper and having mahrez up front with mane and salah
