Mate I think you need to go watch coutinho properly and the role he plays for us. He is not a cm for us Just as, de bruyne, silva, lemar are not centre midfielders. He like the others mentioned pick up pockets of space inbetween the midfield and defence and interchange and link up with a front 3, leaving the other two midfielders to pick up the space. Coutinho does nothing that mahrez doesnt. Both drift inside and drop deep and get on the ball. You support a team where wijnaldum has been turned into a hard working midfielder, firmino a striker and milner a left back, but you find it hard to believe a player the quality of mahrez cant do what coutinho does ? Go watch coutinho off the ball then get back to me

Keita is very good and could turn into a superstar but we will struggle if we still playing hendo and wijnadlum alongside. Goretzka is would be fantastic especially being out of contract but i think he will end up at bayern.

Keita Lemar and a tougher midfielder alongside them would be ideal. Keeping it on thread mahrez would be great option for depth or even if we wanted to play him as CAM or try shifting firmino deeper and having mahrez up front with mane and salah
A tougher midfielder.?The comments get worse.

Naby Keita may be small in stature, but he's built like a tank. He's seen by Klopp to add the brute force needed to our midfield. He's the the complete midfielder. He's Ngolo Kante with goals. That's although Mahrez would be a good signing, we would need a Lemar type to play centrally if Phil leaves.

It'll be completely different playing for us than Leicester. They play having about 35 - 40% possession and hit on the break, we have about 70% and have to try and unpick packed defences most games. I'm not saying he can't adapt just that it's a completely different proposition.

Oh dont get me wrong Keita is a unit but i think if we are playing him in a midfield 3 with Lemar or even Mahrez we need a better player for the third slot than wijnaldum, hendo, lallana or ox. Klopp doesnt play with a true DM but i think a more physical presence but still with good technique would greatly benefit the team. Goretzka, fabinho or savic would be great options

According to some Coutinho is a tricky winger just like Mahrez.

Certainly. Mahrez is very talented and i trust klopp could turn him into a more central player. Mahrez could flourish at a more offensive team than leicester such as ourselves

lemars a winger though isnt he?..hes not even a centre mid.

I think thats the key thing here, people want a like for like replacement but there are none, but if I were to choose a player with similar attributes to Phil who we could possibly mould into playing a different role, Mahrez would be high on that list.

Lemar seems to be very tidy imho, I dont think he will replace all Phil's qualities although he can no doubt slot in at Cm.

Keita is that physical presence. Why would you need to sign a physical presence when you have a physical presence. You need balance, both flair and physicality. So if Phil leaves a player like Lemar would be ideal who possesses that flair.

Yep. I like Lemar a lot. Not the finished article yet, but Klopp always gets the best out of attacking players.

Yeh they are carbon copies of each other. Not sure why Barca haven't earmarked Mahrez as the heir to Iniesta myself.

He is more of an AM than a winger. He can play both roles much like Phil.

Sorry im not making my point clear. If we are going to continue with 3 in midfield and coutinho leaves we would have Keita, the coutinho replacement say its lemar and one slot left. I think we need someone better than the options we already have for that 3rd position. Goretzka would be an upgrade on wijnaldum or hendo. for instance.

Heard some rumblings that we've ruled ourselves out of interest in Mahrez ...
