Van Dijk, Keita and Mahrez would be a pretty decent window, even with Coutinho leaving. We'd have a better squad.

Reports in France have linked Liverpool with a move for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, but this has been strongly rejected by senior sources at Anfield who say they have NO interest in the Algerian international, says @JBurtTelegraph

He isn't really a playmaker. Alonso was a playmaker. Scholes was a playmaker. Mahrez is an attacker out and out. Plus we've just signed Ox so I don't think this link is real, it increases the squads imbalance if this is the player we bring in for Phil. We'd still have a mediocre midfield.

    There you go then.

Thomas Lemar is the one we want.

Was fun the hour it lasted..
Maybe its just Mahrez's agent being naughty. Don't see him staying at Leicester beyond the summer though.

Good he's not the type of player we need.

Great player but we need someone who can play in a midfield three.

I dont agree at all. Salah offers a lot more pressing and defensive coverage than Mahrez.

Eurosport France on the bandwagon now.

The French guys are all saying it is done whereas the English guys say there is no interest.

Playmaker makes play for others and makes the team tick. Mahrez is a playmaker. Go and ask Vardy

If you take the West Ham game this season Mahrez could play where Ox was. Mane on the other side and Bobby and Mo up top. Two deeper mids in Gini and Can for that game.

i cant believe people don't want him here. just because we sign mahrez doesn't mean we will stop going for lemar.

IMO having signed VVD, mahrez and lemar is better than keeping phil

That's just quoting the same story from hours ago. Since then the french media has been all over us buying Mahrez.

I'd like to think we've agreed something before announcing Phil. It makes sense, otherwise we'll be fleeced on the fee.

I expect things to happen quickly over the next 24 hours if that's the case.

That's the only way I can see we can accommodate him.

Thomas Lemar would give us more options in that he can play in a midfield three or wide left in a front three.

Mahrez has played central attacking mid at times this season but normally when Puel has got fed up with his lack of tracking back and swapped him with Gray.

He is capable of it, certainly has the vision to get players in behind like he does with Vardy.

He's a fantastic player and he's proved it. There is no way he wouldn't be a good signing. I just doubt the link.

Yeah Mahrez fed Vardy, but more in the same way as a winger might for example, where he plays A playmaker also goes deep and sets the tempo to control what goes on in midfield, when in need of defensive holding play as well. I suppose you could argue the definition all you like but the top playmakers are CMs where they can influence as much of the game as possible, and so make the team tick as you say.

Eurosport France have also said this evening that a price has been agreed for Riyad Mahrez.

I don't know how reliable BeIN France and Eurosport are.

He was very close to joining Chelsea in the summer. Might be in the same situation as Coutinho, looks like he's been desperate for a move for quite some time.

He was sat in the airport on summer transfer deadline day I just read on the Leicester forums. Think it was a possible move to Roma, hes been wanting out for a year and a half now.

He is a decent player and would be a good addition but he doesn't seem the Klopp type really.

If Klopp's buying him, he probably is

A few on Twitter saying that we will sign Riyad Mahrez this month and then revisit Thomas Lemar in the summer when Monaco are open to selling him.

There is also an understudy by the name of Ziyech who happens to tick a few box's in the attacking department.
