That's a bit like asking which one of your kids you love best!

Anyway, for the sake of argument, I will say Virgil, mainly because we have needed a better defence for years, and you never win league titles by conceding as many as we have on those rare occasions recently that we've been close to No.19.

Virgil and his happy back/thighs/whatever was wrong with the other one.

Would Coutinho have scored the winner in the FA Cup Derby instead, or would the club have still pretended he was injured.

The problem with this we are always in a situation of one or the other.

Couthino is the 140m player....I would have kept him myself....but he can **** off.

Kept the player valued at 142m by arguably the best club in the world

Tough one, but VVD and £70 Million quid wins it.

I tend to agree with you - we have a fare amount of fire power and really needed to help our defence out urgently and he is pretty handy at moving forwards and set pleces.Ask everton

If Phil was still here the answer would be different. We had similar questions asked when Sterling left and some said Ibe was better and I remember some posters saying bringing Lovren in was better than Suarez being sold.

Bottom line is, we are that dumped boyfriend that believes our new girl was better in every department than the former even though we are on the rebound.

Some people here must be thinking Van Dijk is Maldini second coming.

It is easier and cheaper to sign Van Dijk than to find another Coutinho.

Van Dijk will save us more points than Phil would of generated - and at half the price

    It's a no-brainer

Yo Bo...any nice big wins lately?

Miss the betting threads (£1 to riches as I recall).

Liverpool have got Klopp, a great squad and a lot of cash...I'm more than hopeful.

It depends really as things arent that simple.

Phil didnt want to be here so i say van dijk. If phil was happy then of course keep him, but in real world we could go out and buy a defender in the summer which is much needed.

    Coutinho for sure.

But it's should never have been one or the other.

Letís out it this way, it is much easier to find a player like Van Dijk in the market.

In a years time the big clubs could be back for van dijk.

Yes but van dijk is the worlds most expensive defender.

That would probably be a good sign since it would mean he is doing a good job. Would he move? Well, if he thinks is better for him then of course he would.

I'm not worried about that. I strongly believe whoever Klopp has signed will stick with him and see it through.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, given his experience at Dortmund.

    Indeed.

Itís just how football works, unless youíre at the summit, then youíll always have players wanting to leave.

The only way we keep hold of our best players is to be successful.
