Out of the central defenders available at the moment, who would you prefer to see partner Big Virgil ?

I myself would like to see, and this maybe controversial but I think Klavan deserves a run as he has been in good form lately

He may not be tearing up trees, but he does the basics right

    Thoughts ?

Depends a lot on the opponent. Matip, Lovren, and Klavan all have different strengths and weaknesses so none is ideal in all situations. There's also the question of how comfortable VvD would be on the right side wrt playing him with Klavan.

Personally I'd expect to see Matip most often.

Matip would be first choice but both lovren and klavan can step in when needed.

Matip 1st choice next to VVD.

Lovren and Klavan should be shortlisted for permanent transfer if they are unwilling to play back up CB roles.

Gomez is promising 2nd choice but happy to see him continue as RB for now in the absence of Clyne who is injured long term.

Hopefully, we'll add to the CB positions in the summer to add serious competition for Matip's spot.

Would like to see Sami Hansen Carragher, if we can sign him?

Matip will be far better now he has a partner he can trust.

Agree, think Lovren will get a chance though as at times he has played very well this season, had some howlers as well of course thinking Spurs especially, has had a couple of MOM performances as well according to Sky so will be interesting to see which partnership turns out best.

That's been my hope. Fingers crossed it's what we see AND he stays healthy.

Matip started off really well when he first joined, went a bit off the boil this season, but i think he is a top notch defender, calm on the ball, for immediate future it would be him and VVD, and slowly integrate Gomez as the long term partner.

Right now it has to be Matip.Although I would like to see how well Gomez does when paired with Vvd.

Lovren, I just wanna see him play besides VVD as I suspect Dejan will up his game to prove a point

Matip then Klavan if VVD can play on the right.

Side question, has there been a left footer who played on the right CB position?

In a couple of years, let’s not rush Gomez. He ‘could’ become a Superstar, luckily we have a smart and patient Manager in charge who agrees with me.

Matip, and long term hopefully Gomez.

But all of a sudden our back 4 looks very good-

    Gomez/Trent, Matip, Virgil, Robertson.

And with Klavan/Lovren to cover CB, and Milner/Moreno to cover LB, we look flush all of a sudden.
'Okey doke, we'll leave it there so'
