I like him and think he is good at closing in on players advancing ,but he has BIG confidence issue and if he can't get his s...t together till the end of the season his career at high level football will be over before it even started
Isn't it strange how different people see different things...

I can't say I've seen a step into the middle and I'd be interested on your thoughts of how fast this ball moved in the angle from about 0:50 secs - https://www.mancity.com/citytv/featu...al-every-angle

He wants to cash in on Migs and make it known publicly that hes searching for a new keeper ,
Karius is given the No1 jersey for the remainder of the season because he is now playing for his future here.
As things stand hes currently not good enough so its up to him to change the perception that many have about him as a goalkeeper.
you talk as if Klopp is the bad guy, why?

What are you on about .
    Hes doing the right thing.
Getting rid of one and forcing the other into a corner.
    Sink or swim for Karius.

My issue with Karius, is he just doesn't seem to have very good reactions. That is a problem for a goalkeeper, and I'm not sure it's coachable.

Well look at his action closely - he is following Sane and instead of closing the angle by making a step towards the post he actualy step towards the middle of the goal
Yes it was a small step ,but enough to put his arm sideways towards the ball and allowing his wrist to collapse and let the shot in.
They teach you as kid at GK to always try to place your body between the ball and the goal - that way it doesn't matter how fast is the ball it simply can't go in...
It was a childish mistake in a heat of the moment, but unfortunately it differentiate GK's like DDG ,Buffon and Neuer and ours

No point keeping Karius if he continues making amateurish errors.

I'm predicting that we need another thread before the end of the season, except we sign a new keeper. I totally understand, that Karius needs to get his chances, but as was pointed out in the old thread, the goal was bad keeping. He went to the middle before the shot was made and then had awful reflexes, like when he missed or almost missed crosses. Maybe he should get a more managable hair cut or stop social media, but something is wrong with him.

BTW have we seen Karius make a top drawer save? By that I mean one you would expect most goalkeepers not to make.

If he puts his body between the ball and the goal then he's standing on the front post and there is 90% of the goal to hit on one side.

What goalkeepers should be being told is to imagine a piece of string tying them to the centre of the goal and position themselves between that and ball.

It was a poor attempt to save but his position was pretty much where he needed to be.

Excellent tactic from Klopp to bench Mignolet since the New Year effectively publicly "placing him available for sale on the transfer list".

Hopefully, someone like Napoli come in for him before the end of the January transfer window but if Mignolet is not gone now, he's definitely gone in the summer. But I can never trust any Italian club to make a serious offer and stump up the cash!

Fortunately, Mignolet is eager to leave as well especially if he's not playing games as he wants to make the Belgian Bench for the World Cup and play second fiddle to Courtois. Looking forward to a imminent sale then!

Karius will be No.1 until the end of the season and will also effectively be playing for his future too.

If Mignolet is sold in January, then expect Danny Ward to play deputy to Karius for the remainder of the season.

A new GK arrival in the summer seems 100% likely!

    We are moving forwards.

Thank you for the memories Simon...we will never forget your debut when you made a cracking penalty save against Stoke to save us the 1-0 win.

    Errr...not
CB was blocking the far side of the goal for Sane ,so he only had near post to aim.
Had Karius made a little step to the post there is no way that ball goes in ...
What is done is done - the thing is they never learn - hence I am on the page for complete change of GK staff

That is only true because of where the shot goes.

Without the benefit of hindsight, most shots are going to go across the keeper and that is where the bigger area to aim is. Nobody had the far post covered.

And it’s only not true because it’s not Migs.

I think Karius already has one of those.

Sane was closing his angle (was pressed by Matip),so Karius only had to follow direction of the player who is going to shoot
That is towards the post - hence effectively closing in the goal.
He didn't do that and that is why Sane had a place to put the ball in
You close the nearest post -that is it...
It was a mistake and basic one too - I hope he learns .

Let's see what Karius can do till the end of the season 1st. He can't be possibly worse than our former no 1 right?
