For the really stubborn buses that offer nothing going forward. Mane and Salah would have to really stay out wide though which isn't really their game but could be effective I think.

Perhaps when we don't have the ball Ox and Gomez could become FB/WB's and Firmino and Lallana could drop deeper to make a more orthodox 4-2-3-1 formation.
Think plan B - parked busses, we are linked with Rondon I see mate.

We could do with a prolific goal scorer.

I don't believe that link at all, especially considering who it's come from, but his hold up play as a lone (and he is seriously alone) target man is actually really good and as a cheap option it wouldn't be the worst signing in the world. His goal scoring record pre-West Brom is actually pretty decent too. Definitely don't see us signing him though.

I think it's great. I often think that there's no real need for a midfield against the real bus parkers, it's why I think we struggled on Monday. I was half joking thinking we should play 2-1-7, or 3-7, so this isn't too far away, and probably what we should be doing. I'd deffo go for Solanke in that line up, because we need to be utilizing the aerial route far more imo. A few defenders with pace hanging around the halfway line, and you're sorted. I'd love to see us make a sneaky bid for Slimani who seems to get not time at Leicester, he's one of the best headers of a ball I've seen, and would be a great sub in games like Swansea, etc.

To be fair, he's got more to his game than Benteke. Not what we should be aiming at though.

Thought we were past that big target striker. What's the point of signing Solanke, letting Origi go on loan and bringing in Rondon? Don't understand that.

Don't think he'd see much more game time here if that's what he'd be after tbh. Gotta admit I do find it funny you'd like him but are so against Mahrez.

I don't think Klopp wants that kind of player, otherwise Benteke would probably still be here. Solanke is probably the closest we're gonna get I reckon.

Definitely not. We've already got people claiming Ox is Phil's replacement, god knows what people would be saying if we signed Rondon.

For all of Arsenal's commitment to fancy football, Giroud gets them some amount of goals and points when their backs are against the wall- or their fronts, as the case may be.

Our problems lie behind the front three anyway for me.

He does. Don't think he's particularly happy with his super sub role though. And Giroud is actually a classy player, he has a superb first touch and his link up play is excellent. He'd actually be a great option for us if he was available I reckon.

That is kinda funny, I suppose. But tbf, in the context of this discussion, I'd want Slimani. I'm not sure Mahrez would be offering us much more than we've got already in these situations. Slimani would offer us everything we don't have, I reckon.

Yeah a creator of goals. Feels like that void will be filled by either Ox or Lallana.

In a heartbeat. But as Stevie alludes to below, I'm not sure he'd want to move north just for another supersub role.

Firmino can't lead every match. Either he does or it's back to Ings and Solanke. Or Rondon!!!

Never liked Giroud. It often seemed the case that Wenger brought him on late in the game, and he'd get the vital goal.

Fair play I suppose, that's what he should do… but for some reason, I just dislike the guy.

    Maybe it's his face.

Apropos of not very much at all, but there used to be a Rugby administrator in NZ named Ron Don.

Coutinho's face, when he used to score and look grumpy...(ring any bells)

We don't sign players so we can like their faces!

Yeah, that's what we were getting at with that type of player, we could deffo use one imo. VVD for striker last 15 minutes? If it wasn't for the risk of injury, I reckon it would be a good little move.

I've never minded Giroud tbh, though that perfectly groomed, and probably too long beard, is a bit much.

That must be part of it, and the smug gob on him when he scores.
