Liverpool face Porto away in the first leg of the 2nd round knock-out stage of the Champions League . In the group stages, Liverpool were the second highest scorers with 25 goals and nobody conceded more than Porto who conceded 16. It's going to be a very interesting tie over the two legs with the return at Anfield in March 6th.

It would be a good idea to get a good result before the second leg, as it would make it easier because we face Manchester United away on March 10th.

I guess we couldn't have asked for a more routine game than todays before heading out to a CL away tie.

Today's game was pretty routine. We got out of first gear when we needed to, and didn't really get out of 2nd gear full stop. We hardly broke a sweat, second half was definitely a stroll. We weren't anywhere near our best nor needed to be either.

We just sliced them open when we needed to. It really was game over at half time and one of our most comfortable away games. It was more comfortable than the Huddersfield game and that was considered to be comfortable.

I would be inclined to drop mane for Milner bulking up midfield a bit away from home.

Today was a practice game for Porto. Away from home again and I reckon we will play counter attack again, Klopp is very clever.

We will definitely play that front 3, hopefully Milner instead of Ox.

As Warten says below your post Mouldy, we'll probably play on the counter attack so Mane's pace would be good.

Think it will be the same lineup that played today with only Hendo coming in place of Ox.Also don't think dropping mane will help him at all.

    Correct.

That's why Henderson was left out completely today. Klopp hinted that on Thursday that Henderson would be left out completely today and used against Porto.

Well then your wish of playing milner will come true.
It should be Milner, Hendo and Gini.

This Valentines Day last 16 clash is live on BT Sport

The Reds have not progressed to this stage of the competition since 2009, and new legends need to be made, as we prepare to return once again to the glamour of the Champions League knockout stages. Who will be our next Rafa, Istanbul, Stevie G, Alonso........

If Klopp and co underestimate Porto, the way we did Basel, Ludogorets, Lyon and Fiorentina in the Champions League in recent years, then they will be quickly eliminated.

So, Porto are not Crystal Palace, WBA or Swansea, instead they are a capable side, doing well in their country and currently with far more experience of the Champions League than we have. As we look to re-establish ourselves as a leading force under Klopp, consistent progression in the Champions League is vital, so the incentive is up for grabs if we are big enough to take it.

Klopp is trying his best, and Liverpool are improving, but Klopp’s team lacks the nous and defensive fight of Rafa's outfit, even if the current side have greater attacking flair.

A 6th European Cup is not out of our grasp at the moment. The road to Kiev will be long and arduous – but, most importantly, it begins in Portugal on Wednesday night.

If that trio could hit the form they had Aug-Nov last season we would take some stopping.

Yes, if Lallana is ready to start a game, I'd go with this midfield.
If not then Henderson, Wijnaldum and Milner.

Last time we played Porto away was a 1-1 draw in 07/08. Can't believe this will be our first CL knockout game for nine years, it's been far too long!

    -------------------Karius
    Trent-------Matip-------van Dijk-------Robertson
    -----------------Henderson
    -----------Lallana-------Wijnaldum
    -----Salah-------Firmino-------Mané

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Moreno, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Ings

I was surprised we played Saints on Sunday and not Saturday. Must have been a reason, but I'm a bit worried we might run out of legs at about 75 mins v Porto,

Yes. Which is probably why he played yesterday and Hendo was completely rested.
