Hoping Gomez is fit for this. Love Trent but there'll likely be a lot of defending to do on that side. Brahimi and Telles will provide a lot of attacking threat and likely double up plenty, and think Joe will handle it better.

Really hard to read these games. I wonder if Porto will go for it or let us have it and rely on set pieces.

I think we'll get chances - if we can take them we could potentially get a big part of the job done tomorrow night. Hard to imagine a clean sheet.

Emre suspended so I guess Hendo has to start. I'd be tempted by Milner's experience and delivery. Maybe Gomez in for Trent if he's fit.

I think a scoring draw might be deemed a positive result in sight of the return leg,

let's head into the game with a careful approach, minding before to close the spaces behind, then trying to optimize the potential

our attacking triumvirate possess on the break,

if we score a couple of goals, I think we might get on the driving seat in sight of the return game at Anfield,

    Karius

    Gomez
    Matip
    VVD
    Robbo

    Hendo
    Milner
    Wjinaldum

    Salah
    Firmino
    Manč

As subs: Mig, TAA, Lovren, Moreno, AOC, Lallana, Ings,

let's go to the Do Dragao an do the job!

    C'MON YOU MIGHTY REDS!!

Tricky enough fixture. Lovren back in with VVD? Not sure how the line up MF beyond Henderson.

Aboubakar has scored 26 goals in 32 games this season, including 5 in 5 CL games.

So they are quick and quite similar to ourselves except for a few major and important differences....

They don't have Salah, Firmino or Mane.

indeed, he's their most dangerous forward alongside Brahimi,

our backline must keep their guard high and try to stifle any ball fed up from the sides in open play or set piece,

their strikeforce are a serious threat as good as we are when they hit any opposition on the break,

    very powerful and pacy,

I would suggest Mr Klopp to keep our backline a tad deeper than usual and any our department particularly tight, and trying to congest the center of the park in order to

steal them the ball and spark our offensive surges with Momo, Bobby and Sadio,

it will be essential keeping our attacking line a tad closer to our midfield than usual if we want to crowd out Porto's center of the park,

let's attack them off the park either way,

agree, but at their home in a double tie they can be as good as we are, so we'd better not underestimate them,

Gomez is not fit to start, as likewise Clyne. Reason they are included is the team will be staying on in a location in Spain for warm weather training.

Hendo, Milner and Gini? Do you realize how dire that is? In the CL no less?

we don't have alternatives to build up a muscular dynamic midfield to cope with Porto physicality in that side of the pitch,

    could you suggest something alternative?

Obviously Clyne isn't but I've seen nothing ruling out Gomez yet.

Alex Telles their left back has been one of their best players this season. Yacine Brahimi too, basically their left side is very strong, if we stop that then we will find things easier.

Ox has been shocking lately. Properly poor.

I know every game in CL is tough especially the KO's, but we have been given a good draw here. There's no excuse losing to this lot and I don't think we will. A score draw will do in the first leg, and smash them at Anfield.

So he's had 5 yellows in just this competition, this season? If so, that's a lot.

Yes he has been properly poor lately and looking like the patchy player he was at Arsenal. Tbf the clock's still ticking on him but it feels a lot like a £35m mugging for an English player who's not likely to ever become an automatic first team pick.

Having said that he's probably the level of squad player we'll need to stay in the hunt for top 4 places every year and also to be in contention in the knockout rounds of Cup competitions. It's how the big boys do it after all and for this round we should have enough to see off this Porto side.
