God, this movie is so funny. Makes me laugh every time I watch it.

    Drive - 3/10

Dull and disappointing. It nearly got interesting somewhere in the middle, but it quickly got quite tedious again shortly after and dissolved any interest I may have acquired in it.

    "The Hunger Games" 7/10

This is quite a good movie. The comparison with Battle Royale is inevitable, but I liked this much more. It's patient, gathers interest, has some well drawn characters, plus Jennifer Lawrence, who is just a star. The action is not sugar coated like you'd expect in a "hollywood" movie, but they lack the excessive goryness of Battle Royale, which made The Hunger Games feel more of a serious film. For a film that is intended as a franchise in the lines of Harry Potter and Twilight, this is as good as it gets. I wouldn't call it a great film, probably because I'm too pretentious to take the story too seriously.

Watching this tommorow. Wouldn't be though if it hadn't have been received as good as it has considering all I know about it was that it was adapted from a series of young adult fiction books a la Twilight. What's up with this Battle Royale comparison I keep hearing about? Also heard it compared to Arnie's Running Man. It's source material and the fact it's a 12a implies you're not going to get teenagers beating the living crap out of each other.

    Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol - 6.5/10

Some good action. What i can't understand is how this and the third one is rated above the original which is clearly the best. This one is basically an homage to Tom Cruise.

    Hunger Games 7.5/10

An entertaining film - some of the scenes were well above average Hollywood fare. It does draw from the Running Man (which I've seen) but I've never seen Battle Royale but the premise on IMDB seems to suggest a similar storyline.

Just started watching The Ladykillers starring Tom Hanks which is currently on BBC iPlayer. Looks like a gem of a movie given the first 15 minutes so I thought I'd let people know it is there now - before it expires.

If you liked O Brother Where Art Thou then you should like this.

    City of God 8.5/10

Good stuff, wasn't as good as a lot of people told me it would be though. Certainly merits re-watching further down the road.

    21 Jump Street.

Going to give it a 6.5/10.

It certainly had it's moments, but I think it peaked in its hilarity too soon and never improved.

He didn't direct it, but he wrote it. But I guess that can count as well.

I think thats actually why its so good. I knew that already but i still kind of have it as a Tarantino film.

@Redhoops The soundtrack is brilliant. Main theme is just so ******* perfect.

    Using your fancy-shmancy foreign titles

It was very good, but I think my perception suffered from the weight of expectation. I had expected the Godfather II or something like that. Still a really good movie.

I have been teaching myself Portuguese for when I finish undergrad work I plan on going to Brazil.

There are very few movies that come close to Godfather I&II though.

Only if you dont like breasts, hilarious amounts of gore, a Salma Hayek striptease, and a human corpses being played as instruments by a vampire band.
