What do people think of Odd Future and more specifically Tyler The Creator?

I think they try to be weird for the sake of it. I find their production really uninspiring, and their lyricism is pretty weak. Pretty much everything they have to say was covered by Slim Shady circa 1998-2001. The only one who I like and will actively listen to is Frank Ocean, who has a really good voice. That's just me though, I know they have a lot of fans these days.

I was quite interested in them a while go but they were a bit too weird for my liking.

There's another guy called Hopsin who also is another weirdo but i've heard one or two of his tracks and he sounds quite decent. But as i am with most of the new music that comes out nowadays, i just cant be bothered to keep up with it all.

Earl Sweatshirt is somewhat legitimate, but Tyler the Creator sucks. It's like, "Oh my God! He says really bad things and swears alot!"

Yeah, as newcomers go they're ok. They're very hit or miss.

If you're looking for newer hip-hop, I highly recommend the following:

    Big K.R.I.T.
    Ab-Soul & Kendrick Lamar
    Curren$y
Tito Lopez (he is really awesome)

Frank Ocean is very very good mate!

Here's a few of his tunes i love.

    Frank Ocean - Novacane

    Frank Ocean - Swim Good

    Frank Ocean - Strawberry Swing

Like i said, i haven't really kept up with any new music so he may have released some newer stuff, but those are 3 of my favourites from him.

When you said Odd Future, i didn't even really think of Frank Ocean tbh. He's so out of place in that group, there all weirdos and he's the normal one, and the best one out of the lot imo. Depends what your into really, if you like that sort of ''OMG they skate and OMG they swear'' then you'll love Odd Future. However if you prefer 'normal' music then give Frank Ocean a listen.

One of the founding members of hip hop trio the Beastie Boys Adam Yauch died today aged 47.

Yauch, known in the Beastie Boys by his stage name MCA, announced in 2009 that he was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node, however, it is not clear at present whether the rapper's death is related to his battle with cancer.

Alongside Mike D, Mix Master Mike and Ad Roc, Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys in 1979, and the group went on to win multiple Grammies.

He is survived by his wife, Dechen Wangdu and daughter Tenzin Losel Yauch.

Just made a tribute thread then noticed this thread was live and made a connection. I think he deserves his own tribute thing as this thread is for discussing music and not paying respects, hopefully mods will appreciate that

MC Adam Yauch in the place to be all the girls are on me 'cos I'm down with Mike D

    True.

    He has good flow

Same can be said for Common, Fabolous and T.I. who really get overlooked now because of these mickey mouse bubble gum rappers of the new age.

Kayne West - Get 'em High.

So Kayne does fine, and Talib is ******* awesome, but the third guy to come in on the last verse, might be the worst 16 bars I've ever heard on record.(starts at 3.00 minutes)
